Venezuelan flutist, teacher, composer, and conductor with a solid career in the classical and popular fields. A former member of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, Nicolás Real begun his career in the National System of Youth and Child Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela “El Sistema”. He was member of important chamber ensembles such as Miquirebo Flute Quartet, National Flute Orchestra of Venezuela, and The Real-Peña Duo (Flute and Piano Duet), among others. In 1991, he obtains the Bachelor Degree in Flute Performance from the University Institute of Musical Studies in Venezuela. In 2003, he earned the Masters Degree in Flute Performance from Central Michigan University. In 2013, Mr. Real completed the Doctoral Degree in Musical Arts (DMA) at Temple University in Philadelphia. In 2002, Nicolas Real won the first place in the "Concerto Aria Competition, 2002" at Central Michigan University, and in the “Performers Competition” at The National Flute Association Convention in Washington DC 2002. As a composer, his works for flute and diverse ensembles have been performed by distinguished chamber music ensembles in Venezuela and in the USA such as The Massachusetts Flute Choir, The Crescent Duo (flute and clarinet), National Flute Orchestra of Venezuela, and Miquirebo Flute Quartet. As a conductor, he has been guest conductor of many symphony orchestras and chamber groups in Venezuela, being praised for his interpretation of the orchestra repertoire. In 2004, Mr. Real produced his first CD as a flute soloist titled “Nicolás Real-Music from Eastern Venezuela” in which he explores the musical richness of the eastern region of  Venezuela. In 2010, and sponsored by Citgo Petroleum Corporation and Amundos Productions, Nicolás Real made his first US tour “Nicolas Real, Sounds from Venezuela and Latin America”, which was a complete success, and Mr. Real had the best feedback from the audience and the media. In 2011, Nicolás Real premiered his “1st Concerto for Flute, String Orchestra, and Percussion” at the First International Flute and Piccolo Festival in Caracas-Venezuela, received the best critics. In 2015, Mr. Real was a flutist at the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, Flute Teacher at the Latin American Flute Academy from “El Sistema”, and Flute Teacher at the School of Music of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Los Andes in Mérida, Venezuela. Currently, he is Principal Flute at Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra, Flute Teacher at North Broward Preparatory School, and Founder Director of the Real Flute Studio in South Florida.
